 Course description   The purpose of this course is to obtain an understanding of project management and its principles in a contemporary project environment. It aims to introduce students to the language used by practitioners in conjunction with the terminology recognized by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
The course consists of two modules. The first module will cover the five basic process groups of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) guide, namely, the Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Control and Closing of projects. The second module will focus on the project life cycle concepts, maturity models and stakeholder management. This module also addresses foundational topics for student success throughout the academic programme.

 Learning outcomes   The students can:
describe the core issues of various types of projects and life cycle concepts
explain the difference between projects and ongoing activities, project and program life-cycles
explain the core issues of goal, scope, and baseline.
explain the concept of stakeholders and the roles of stakeholders in a project.
